Pitcher · Indianapolis Clowns, Banana Ball Championship League

Clark Gilmore

Play Division I baseball as an undersized high schooler. Then keep playing, on his own terms.

Outcome

155 to 220 lb and 80 to 93 mph. Joel Barlow High School to Dartmouth, Notre Dame, and the Indianapolis Clowns.

Fastball
80to93mph
Bodyweight
155to220lb
First six months
155 lb, 80 mphto190 lb, 87 mph

Where it started.

A 155 lb junior at Joel Barlow with an 80 mph fastball, a Division I dream, and a habit of catching comebackers behind his back that started at age 12.

What they wanted

A body that could carry a Division I arm, and a program he could keep coming back to.

What ATP saw.

ATP evaluated 3 of the seven domains for this case. The lit circles are where the history sent us. Tap any circle to see what ATP looks at there.

Working diagnosis

Capacity first. The frame had to arrive before the arm could show what it had, and it did: 35 lb and 7 mph in the first six months. After that the job was to keep building through five college offseasons without losing the delivery, or the fun.

In order.

What came first, and what came after.

  1. Priority 1: Bodyweight and strength: 155 to 190 lb in six months

  2. Priority 2: Velocity following the frame: 80 to 87, then 93

  3. Priority 3: Offseason blocks at ATP through Dartmouth, every winter

What we did.

The tools follow the diagnosis. Every item here was chosen after the priorities were set.

“I came to ATP as an undersized high schooler with dreams of playing Division I baseball. Within just six months, my work in the weight room led to a 35-pound increase in bodyweight (155 to 190 lbs) and a 7 mph jump in fastball velocity (80 to 87 mph). That improvement helped me commit to my dream school, Dartmouth College. During my offseasons at Dartmouth, I continued training with ATP, eventually reaching career highs of 220 lbs and 93 mph. Those gains opened the door to playing Power 4 baseball at the University of Notre Dame.”
